I opened my pool Sunday, March 31. I tested the water on Tuesday, and began the process of balancing. I got as far as shocking, then pump problems started. The pool has not been running since Friday. I’m hoping to have it up and running today. My question is, after filtering again for 24 hours, should I start over with shock again, on just continue on with the process?

Thanks for replying. I ended up retesting the water, adding some chemicals and shocking again. It was just better to start over since the water had not been filtering for days since the last shock.
When you opened your pool in March 31, what was your water temperature? My water temperature is up to 58F as of April 10th and I plan on opening my pool this weekend as the water temperature approaches 60 F. And I don’t anticipate that I will need to shock.

- Visible algae in your pool - cloudy/unclear water
- CC level above 0.5 ppm
- Loss of more than 1.0 ppm of FC overnight (seeOvernight Chlorine Loss Test
- Your fc has fallen to zero
- If any of these apply you don’t just raise to shock/slam level once or twice - you do the SLAM Process with liquid chlorine until all 3 end of slam criteria are passed.
