Should I have calcium deposits cleaned while the mastic is being fixed?

Help! Relatively new pool owner, at a house we plan to rent out soon. I have a fellow coming Wednesday 12/26/2023 to fix cracked and peeled mastic. The pool maintenance guy said the pH is off, too much stuff accumulated in the pool, he's adjusting that I guess.*

The mastic fellow also will clean off calcium deposits, maybe $600. Should I do that? It is a very convenient time to do so...maybe later there is never a great time really. I did read the pages here about calcium but I do not have a chance to measure the pool water and hose water until *maybe* the evening before.

Grazie!

*This is really a different subject, but when I go out there I drain out and refill like 500 gallons...though I think from other stuff I read I should really have a minerals filter on the fill hose, and a minerals filter somewhere in the system.
