So I started opening my pool this weekend raised the chlorine level and balanced the ph. Have a significant about of cloudiness the problem is I can only seem to run the filter for 2-3 hrs before it appears to be full and need to back wash. It’s a D.E. Flitter and it goes from 30psi. To 40psi and then the pump basket starts to empty and the flow rate slows down. It has been suggested to flock the pool but wanted some opinions first.

We would not recommend using Floc.

Follow the SLAM Process. If you have a MPV put it on recirculate and follow the SLAM process until the FC loss is minimal. Then start to filter out the solids. You also could vac to waste after letting the solids settle for over night.

A DE filter has its down falls.

I don’t have an mpv bit I’m sure I can come up with a work around am just worried that even when my f.c. is stabilized I will still plug the filter.
