Thank you very much. The gasket came in and the system is back up and running well with no air leak. I will replace those wood shims, because they are already soaking wet. Now, all that's left to do is close LOL.
Even though this thread started with a big mishap, I was able to learn a lot about about my filtration system, take it apart, better understand what is going on, and now I am much more comfortable with it.
I am very thankful for you folks because this year I was able to install ball valves on my system too (earlier.) They have been extremely helpful and I don't know how I lived last year without them.
