should I be concerned about this crack?

I was scrubbing the walls the other day and came across this crack.

Is it big? Should I be concerned?

Should I repair it or contact the pool contractor?

This pool is 17 years old but was resurfaced four years ago.

Is this a defect in workmanship or regular wear and tear?

Show me pics of the coping, deck and expansion joint around the skimmer area.

Do you see that the crack starts at the top of the skimmer coping, goes down under the skimmer mouth frame and down into the plaster?

What type of skimmer do you have?

Was that skimmer replaced when your pool was resurfaced?

You usually see a skimmer with screws and a frame on its mouth in a vinyl pool. That does not look like the type of skimmer used in a plaster pool.

Thanks for your response. Here are a few more pictures.

The original installer put these smaller sized skimmers. Everyone comments that they are usually for vinyl pool. I don’t know why they did it but that’s how it came.

When the contractor refinished the pool last year they removed the Frame around the skimmer

The crack does appear to go from the coping and around the edge of the frame and then into the side of the pool plaster.

The skimmer was not replaced when the pool was resurfaced

I also attached two pictures that I took during the pool getting resurfaced and circled the skimmer where it is cracked

I also found an older picture I took of the same location from June 10 of 2021

Looking at this one I think I can still see the crack in the gunnite. So maybe the crack was always there in the gunnite and it’s just now progressed to split the new plaster?

I don’t have a better picture from before the resurfacing
