Sheer Descent Plumbing Question

Hi all! We are nearing completion of our pool build, and I noticed the PB notched the cap stones for the valves serving the sheer descents.
I tried searching here for a better solution to hide these valves where they'd still be accessible with no luck. I hate the idea of cutting into the natural stone like this.
it's a 24"H feature wall with (3) sheer descents. The pb planned on making the grade behind the wall up near the top of the wall, but that can change if necessary.

Would you move the valves into the vertical pipe and grade the dirt to a lower elevation, or somehow bury them in valve boxes, or something else?

Thank you for your input! This forum has been extremely helpful.

You may be able to install the valves at your equipment pad. They would be out of sight yet still easily accessible. You definitely don't want ball valves (which are shown in your picture) anywhere in your plumbing. Only use high quality diverter valves such as Jandy Never Lube or Pentair.

I agree. Were they going to cover the valves with something?

That's exactly what I have in my pool. The valves are located at my equipment pad.

That’s bad…they should have just moved the valves back towards the elbows a foot+ or so and then you could cover them with landscaping “hiders” (fake rocks, sprinkler valve cover, etc). They could have even placed them on the vertical part of those pipes with an appropriate access. Do those three valves share a common trunk…and so can’t be moved back to pad unless you run new feeders?

One problem is that they have left no room to cut off those valves and extend the pipes before replacing with “real Jandy-type valves,” which you really do want. There might be some room (underneath) once the “notched capstones” are removed for replacement.

I put the valve on the vertical and also a valve box for mine. This is a 3-way valve with a cap on one of the outlets.

Here's a picture of pool equipment. It is a single pipe, split for each of the waterfalls...so too late to valve them back at the equipment.
I think moving them to the vertical in an irrigation box is the way to go. Should I insist that the valves are swapped for something more substantial as well?

Only reason I used the valve w/slip union l as a 90 on my retrofit is because I didn’t have room for anything else. In your case, I’d probably use a straight valve somewhere since you the room, but a valve box in any case.

For the water feature pump, what is the purpose of the diverter valves on the suction and discharge? Very easy to deadhead the pump if you're not careful. Same hazard exists with your main pump plumbing. Three way diverters would have been better.

Did you get the Jandy heater bypass?

Yes. They used proper valves at the equipment pad. Not sure why they saved a couple dollars installing crappy ball valves for your water feature.
