Service Multiport Valve Now or in the Spring?

My Hayward MPV is a few years old. It works fine and doesn't leak, but I noticed it was getting difficult to turn this past year. I want to service it, for which I've watched YouTube videos about. My only question is now that I've closed the pool, could I service it now to get it out of the way, or is it a waste of time as it's going to sit all winter?

Also, is the Aladdin Magic Lube fine for this task?

I would wait to service your MPV until you can test your fix.
