I'm looking to install the sense and dispense for liquid chlorine and muriatic acid. I'm planning the project and am struggling with the location of the dispensers. I was originally going to put them side by side in a plastic shed. But I've read that this can be dangerous. I'm also wondering that if the dispense tube's are too close to each other on the return line, if that can be dangerous as well if both dispensers were working simultaneously.

If anyone would have any input or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TFP.

Many members seem to find that system is more trouble then it helps and eventually rip it out.

The system is designed to not have both dispensers operating simultaneously. That is why you have one central controller.

Keeping chlorine and acid close to each other is never a good practice. That is why when I buy a case of acid and a case of liquid chlorine I put one in the trunk of my car and the other in the back seat. But in the pool store they have stacks of each about 6 feet apart.

The sense and dispense is designed to work with both. Although I'm curious how anyone who has/had the system installed the tube's from the dispensers. Would it be best to maintain a certain distance? Or, am I just overthinking it.

Below is a picture of where my check valves are installed. They are right after my old chlorinator, which I keep in place in case I want to add TriChlor tablets, and the underground piping back to pool. Acid check valve is closer to pool but doesn’t have to be. There are times when BOTH acid and chlorine are dispensed at same time and I have not had any issues for 3 1/2 years now.

You are not going to find much information on this type of system here at TFP. They promote a very specific way to maintain pools and pretty much everything outside of those practices are frowned upon.

I created a post that details my journey using the sense & dispense. Take a look at it and Message me if you have any questions.

Btw.. still running strong and works very well. It’s not a set and forget system, but close to it. You will have some maintenance but not much.

Hope this helps

@joboo7777 Thank you for your comment. I have read your post and was hoping to hear from you.

I did find another post regarding the locations of the feeder check valves and it was suggested to put the acid upstream of the chlorine since the chlorine has a tendency to build up calcium at the valve and the acid being upstream helps to prevent this.

I was also planning on putting my sense and dispense module in a 50 cu ft shed with both feeder containers. I know the instructions advise against this but was hoping to get other opinions. Was this by chance something you considered? If not, I'd be interested to know your opinion.
