I had neglected my pool for about half a year, and now I am trying to bring it back to swim for the summer. I have been semi-slamming my pool for about a month. I am running the pump only 19 hrs a day to avoid the on peak electric charges. However, I am at a point where I'm not seeing any improvements any more. Should I commit to the 24/7 commitment or is this just something that I have to see through?

I am located in Southern California, and my test results are:
FC (checked 2x daily): 24
CC (daily): 1.5
pH (at start of slam, 1 month ago): 7.2
TA (at start): 100
CYA (at start): 50
CH (at start): 600

The water is currently crystal clear, and I'm clearing the filters and brushing daily.

About 2 weeks into the slam, I replaced my old cartridge filter with a new one because I wasn't seeing any improvements. My measurements at that time were similar to the ones posted above. It has been another 2 weeks with the new filter, and there still hasn't been any improvements.

Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks in advance!

What improvement over crystal clear water are you expecting?
CC of 1.5 is concerning. Clean your vial with rubbing alcohol and dry. Retest FC and CC and post results.
Post pictures of the pool so we can see what we are dealing with...

The improvement is more about having 0 CC, so I can stop slamming. I've attached some images of my pool.

I've cleaned my test vial from the taylor k2006 kit with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and noticed it turned brown. I also noticed that it has some white streaks after it was dried. I'm going to soak it in some vinigar to try and see if the white stuff is calcium and test again.

But after the first round of rubbing alcohol, the levels were still the same:
FC: 18 (I'm going to add liquid chlorine so it's back up to 24)
CC: still 1.5
