I can clean the bottom of the pool and the next morning it looks like this.

I am currently in SLAM mode, is this dead algae falling to the bottom or somehow coming out of the filter?

Another thing, I’ve been adding DE to my filter. It has helped clear the water up, but pressure on the gauge never increased, even after adding 2 1/2 cups of DE. The filter is only a year or 2 old, Hayward 3 cu ft.

That looks very much like dead algae.

Does it go *poof* and disappear when you get close to it with brush or vacuum?

It might be worthwhile to leave the vacuum in the pool (but disconnected) overnight so you don't disturb things when you're ready to vacuum Then sneak up on it really slowly so the vacuum sucks the stuff in rather than the water you're displacing pushing it away.
