I'm having issues with what looks like calcium/scale buildup in my hot tub. I believe my gas heater has calcium build up inside as well. Are there any products that I can add to my hot tub that may help the build up in the heater? Thanks
Perhaps, it could also be the heater over heating. Does this noise happen on start up, on shut down of say the pump or at any specific time you have noticed?I do have calcium ring around spa, it's decently thick. My heater has an issue that sounds like rocks being tossed around inside the heater, it only lasts a few seconds at a time. Tech said it's scale built up and breaking off.
As David said, it's much more likely an issue with your thermal regulator or bypass.I do have calcium ring around spa, it's decently thick. Regulator is fairly easy. Also easy to test yourself. It happens after the heater has been running for about 20 minutes, it then cycles on and off prior to reaching temp
I am waiting on a quote to replace bypass and thermal regulator. Any idea if these are hard to replace? Expensive to swap? Thanks
Its a little odd to happen when the pump has good water flow and the heater has been running for a while. Sorry more questions - Is the heater or pump new? Is the filter clean? It happens after the heater has been running for about 20 minutes, it then cycles on and off prior to reaching temp
What sort of filter is it?Heater is roughly 10 years old, filters cleaned in march. Changing out the pressure gauge and cleaning them again this weekend if rain cools down
If cleaning doesn't fix this issue, could you remove the media and run without for an hour or so and see if this resolves the problem? The symptom could indicate insufficient flow through the heater.Sta-rite system 3
