So I'm an idiot and turned the key to close my save-t cover pool cover when it was already bumping up against some planters at the end of the pool and heard a loud snap. This has happened before and so I hammered the pin out that locks the collar on to the (rod?) and replaced it with a new pin. After replacing the pin, the pool will continue opening, but it will not close.

You can see that there is a collar that shifts its position to one side to open and to the other side to close. The pin seems to be properly installed because it will continue opening and the collar will lock onto one side. But I don't know why when it Darnfts to the side needed to close the pool, it does not engage.

Can anyone help with what I might have done and the solution to this? Thanks in advance!

This is an older save-t pool cover I think called Save-t-pool cover II, diamond edition.

No but I did manage to figure out what part is broken. Basically there are 3 screws that screw one of the "dog collars" into another part and those snapped. I have a guy coming out next week. One guy told me that they wouldn't be able to get the broken screws out of the holes which cannot be possible. There are obviously methods to extract broken screws. Basically the 3 screws snapped and since there's no clearance to extract them, the motor and related parts all to that side must be removed in order to access it and put in new screws. Everyone's trying to sell a new cover, which is annoying as it works fine, but needs to be fixed.
