I just had a pool built a and never had one before, so I'm a new, new pool owner.
We have had some bad luck getting the water clear and correct and have yet to be able to use this new pool.
New construction caused some filtering problems due to concrete dust and dirt from my landscaping. As well as it being built during the winter and sitting still and growing algae until it could be worked on in better weather.
That got settled by shocking and backwashing. On top of that I had a defective salt cell too, which is now replaced.
So finally, now I'm onto getting the chemistry right.
I have a vinyl liner in ground pool with swg.
I bought the tf pro kit for salt and got it today and started testing.
My TC and FC are 0.
My CYA is off the charts, I could clearly see the black dot after filling it all the way to the top.
(I tested my tap water too to make sure I was doing it correctly and got reasonable results)
From what I've been reading, it seems like I just need to drain 40%ish of the water.
Is this pretty much the only thing I can do?
Is it a problem that the pool was filled with both city water and untreated well water (irrigation well)?
Should I avoid well water this time?
Water here isn't crazy expensive, but free is always better if it's ok.
Anything else I should look out for on a new build?
For reference it's all Hayward - sand filter, AquaRite 900 series (set to auto 100%) with a turbo cell tcell925 and a heater (if that matters).
