Hi! New pool owners. Have a Hayward sand filter. Pool has been open for almost 3 weeks, but just today vacuumed for the first time with a pool blaster, so I was able to see everything it picked up. There’s was a lot of stuff that looks like sand, but I’ve read it might be the dead algae? There’s a lot of other stuff mixed in since it’s the first vacuum, it felt both grainy and slimy at the same time.
Pool was a swamp at opening and is still cloudy (so I can’t see the bottom yet)
So, any chance this is just dead algae? Or does it look more like sand?
Is there anyway we could know for sure now, without opening the filter? I’ve read if it puffs up when brushing its algae, but I can’t tell with the pool this cloudy.m
Thanks!!
