Hi all!

I've had a weird issue for a couple months that has continued and I'm now wondering what's going on

Whenever I empty my pool robot, I'm getting a lot of sand looking debris in there...to the point it's a little pile in the corner of my yard when I empty it.

I thought maybe it could be salt but I'm not sure why it wouldn't dissolve and it's truly sand in appearance.

The only things I've put in my pool are salt, acid, stabilizer (as needed).

Any ideas?

What kind of filter do you have?
Make and model? (Maybe add to your signature).

If you have a sand filter, may be an issue with the filter.
Do you have sand anywhere around that could blow in the pool?

Yeah, need to do a better job on the logs but just did it today and it's in good shape, if algae can leave grit, then maybe...

This is literal grit though. No source of sand nearby, maybe could be a little dirt the gets bleached. The only "source of sand" I can think of is the umbrella stand hole always has sand coming out of it, but this is a large amount...

Pool is still relatively new (3 years) - could it just be the pebble/ lining breaking down slightly? Forgetting the name of it right now but it's that colored stone that I think they blow on.

Stupid question, but does the sand look brown? I only ask because if it’s more of a white color, it could be calcium flakes. Before knowing anything about our pool, I couldn’t figure out why my pool vacuum always had gritty debris, but now I realize it was calcium flakes from the SWG the whole time!

Just a thought!

Post a picture of this debris the next time you clean out your robot's basket.
Gather a bit of it up and put a few drops of vinegar on it to see if it fizzes.

Add your filter manufacturer and model number to your signature. Put any additional equipment and test kit there as well.
