sand in bottom of pool could be algae

Hello and welcome to TFP! If you have algae, then we at TFP perform a "SLAM" (link below in my signature). By the way, don't forget to update your sig as well. To perform a SLAM, it requires the proper amount of bleach (chlorine) applied consistently for as long as it takes to pass the 3 SLAM criteria listed on that page. Also, you'll need one of the recommended test kits to test the elevated FC level as regular store kits don't test that high. I recommend the TF-100 (link below), but the Taylor K-2006C will also serve that purpose. Give those links a review and let us know if you have any questions. Nice to have you with us.

I have sand and dust on bottom of my pool and I was freaking out about it being algae. But its not slimy and it vacuums up super easy...I did over night chlorine loss and it was at 1 but its still in back of my head that it could be algae. We live on dirt road and very dusty area. So I think its dust. If I get in and move it around it puffs up like a cloud of dust. I usually have to vacuum twice a week instead of once
