Sand filter

Hey I have a question about my Hayward sand filter. The pressure gauge seems to start around 12-14 and then shoot’s up to about 20 in less than an hour after backwashing. It has stayed around 20-22 for at least a day until I backwash it again. I replaced one of the o rings where a leak had developed. My pool is still very cloudy but I have been in slam for about a week now. This is a new pool to me and I’m unsure of what the previous owners did last year, if anything. Just wondering if this model can handle running around that high of pressure or if it could be something that is broken and It may need to be repaired or replaced?

The filter is doing its job. In slam you may have to backwash a lot. Backwash, note pressure, when it rises 25%, backwash again. This is normal, it is clearing the pool. Filter is rated to 50psi.
