Sand filter or Salt water chlorinator?

Hi everyone! Just bought my first above ground pool. Bestway 10x16 oval! It comes with a pump. If I got a saltwater chlorinator, is that all I would need to make it a saltwater pool? And salt, of course. ALSO, if I got a sand filter instead, would I need to use chlorine or salt?
Which of those two do you recommend? Sand filter or salt water chlornator?

You need both. The filter removes large particles in the water and the SWG uses electricity and salt to produce chlorine for sanitation.

Yes - they do different things. You need a filter (sand, cartridge, or DE) on every pool. SWG is optional but a great way to chlorinate.

Ok, great!! Can I use the pool pump/filter that comes with the pool if I decide not to also get a sand filter and only get the chlorinator?

I have both, and they are awesome. You can do one without the other.
