I have a brand new sand filter that was installed in May 2023. The person who installed it was the same person who did a lousy job on my liner, so let's say I have no idea if it was done right. That being said, my son who used to clean pools and recently came to stay with me said the filter does not sound right to him. According to him, I shouldn't hear any noise except from the pump. If you view the video you can clearly hear noise from the top valve...he says its air going through the pipes and it shouldn't be there. Can anyone tell me if that's true. The first part of the video is the pump which sounds fine. Second is the sand filter.

Sounds like you’ve got some air in there.
With it turned off, press the handle down & move the mpv to different positions to see if it releases any air.
Be sure to purge your pump basket of any air as well. There shouldn’t be any bubbles in your pump basket. Be sure the pump basket lid oring is lubricated.
Sometimes if the pump sucked some air in due to low water level or or vacuuming or something it can get a little bubbly even if it’s “cleared” it out & running fine otherwise.

Have the same problem. How did you resolve it?
