I converted my pool to salt water. Purchased a rj45 plus purchased the exact amount of salt that pool math app recommended for my size pool. I was aiming for salt level to be 3500. Rj45 plus says 4100 and my test kit which just arrived took 26 drops so by that it's at 5200 ppm. I'm currently doing slam does high chlorine affect salt testing? I'm assuming that the taylor k-1766 would be accurate? Do I drian and replace some water?

Did you test the salinity before adding the salt? All pool water has some salt in it.

The FC level does not effect the salinity test.

You get rain. So if the SWCG is not complaining of high salt, I suggest you let natural overflow, backwashing, etc lower the salinity.

I assumed it would be 0 bc ive never used salt before. So 1 put 0 in the app and then target level of 3500. Put it exactly what it said. I had a test kit ordered but I guess I rushed things. But if my results are accurate im still OK to leave it a little high and let it naturally go down

Chlorine and acids all contain salt, and with you SLAMMING, you added a lot of salt with that. At 5200ppm, you will taste the salt in the water, but as long as the RJ45 does not give a high salt error yo should be all right.

The RJ does use Aquarite based controls so a high salinity does have some risk. But have never heard of issues with them.
