Salt water spa has a ton of salt blowing out of jets

Hello!

Newbie pool owner here. We have a salt water pool and spa and when I turn on “spa mode” the jets almost seem like they are shooting out salt with the water. However, my salt cell says it’s low on salt. Here’s a picture of what my spa looks like with spa mode on at night under the lights. Please help! Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.
It is not salt. Salt is all dissolved in the water with the very low salinity you have. Remember, the Ocean has 10X the salinity of your pool water with no undissolved salt in it.

It is likely bubbles. Is it only when the SWCG is generating chlorine? The SWCG creates chlorine and hydrogen gas. The chlorine instantaneously goes into solution with the water. The hydrogen gas is expelled out of the jets.

Thank you for the reply! I’ve only noticed it when I put it in spa mode. When it’s not, I don’t notice it. Is this normal? As long as I have the spa turned on it continuously blows out this stuff.

Check your pH.
It may be salt scaling off of your internal plumbing. I've seen this in spas as well. Understand that salt is very high in pH and I find that I have to use a lot more acid than in the conventional chlorine pools that I service.
Usually, it requires about 1/2 gallon of acid every week to keep pH in range.
I haven't used borates yet (they help stabilize pH), as it is fairly costly, but I will start using it and passing the cost that to the customer.

Be sure to check your actual salinity & do not simply rely upon the read out of your swcg. We recommend the Taylor k1766 salt kit.
Can you post all your latest test results?
