So my Hayward T9 salt cell is going into season 8 this summer. It’s a bit undersized (next one will be a T-15) but still looks to be running ok. Today first time on for spring and salt level read about 600 less than tested (tested with Taylor kit). I think it’s still ok. My question, should I just replace the cell proactively now before the summer or just ride it out as long as possible?

Agree with Jim. My new build came with a Hayward TurboCell S3 for 40,000 gal capacity. While I was poking around eBay I found a gently used one (they had significantly oversized on their build) that was less than 6 months old for a couple,e hundred dollars. I’ve got it in my garage as a standby and to use one this one fails. History—and recent news—indicates prices will only climb from here.

If you can find one on eBay might save some money…just have to be careful that cell is as advertised.

I’m going into year 4 and it’s been nearly maintenance free which has me worried of course that it’ll go! It’s been clean when I check it during the season. Just hoping for another clean start and season soon but I’m dreading the day it’ll fail and then I’ll be scrambling for its replacement.
