Safe to run with HIGH (but "incorrect?") salt level?

Just replaced T-15 with a generic one (Pureline) from Inyopools.

- the SWG salt level is around 4400 - 4200 (runs at 4200 but shuts down at / above 4300)
- Taylor (K1766) indicates 3400 (i.e., 17 drops)

If the SWG runs at 4200, should I run it or am I risking the transformer getting too hot / blow out? Not sure I need to drain as the kit indicates the correct level(?).

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

That type SWCG does not measure salinity, it computes the value using performance characteristics of the cell. Yours is ‘over performing’ as it’s new.

As long as the amps stay below 8, should be no issue.

Thanks for your quick reply. I just checked the amperage and it is 7.95 - 7.99...drain a bit last night (1/2 inch below the middle screw of the skimmer) and fill a bit to lower the SWG salt reading.

One "intriguing" thing is that AquaRite typically indicated "Hi" then stops generating (with the red high salt indicator on)

Hhowever, I got "generating, green" indicator on but the amp is 0 (i.e., not producing?)....draining and filling now but thought I have never seen those combos before.
