I have a 4 year old Doughboy Palm Shore 16 x 32 and the top rails have started rusting. So…..I went to the dealer to check on it and see if warranty may help pay for the rails. First question the owner asked was what is my CH and TA. I told her that the CH was 50 and the TA was 70 and they wanted to know if their store was doing the testing, which I told her no, I do my own testing. She then wanted to know what kind of test kit I was using and I told her I use a TFT-100. Of course, she made no comment and said warranty wouldn’t cover because of low TA and low CH. She said the combination of the low TA and low CH was causing the rust….. I didn’t think CH was that important in a vinyl pool. Pool experts chime in and let me know what I’m doing wrong?

The warranty for the wall and frame components have no mention of water balance etc - I would go back and ask them to show you where in the warranty there is any reference to the water balance having any significance for a warranty claim.

Thanks for the reply….All I seen in the warranty is it is voided withe use of chlorine salt generating system which I don’t have. Says nothing else about water chemistry balance. I’ve used TFP method since pool purchase.

Does anyone have any input on this??? Thought I would refresh it with all the political happenings this past week and see if I can get more responses…..
