Rust in pool brush bristles?

Hi! I have a silly question - been using my whale brush that I got with my tf-100 kit for about 2months; it’s been great!

However, I noticed today that there appears to be rust forming from where the bristles attach to the main bar. Is this normal? Should I replace it? I didn’t want this to add rust stain to the pool when I use it so wanted to see what other experiences there were.

Thanks!!

Mine looks exactly the same, I've had it for a bit less than a year. Doesn't bother me all that much but like you said hope that's the extent of the rust

Hello tgrinchy. Debbie here from GABco Products, the manufacturer of the Wall Whale Pool Brush.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this, it isn’t common. For background, we use stainless steel screws to attach the Wall Whale to the pool brush. The handle and main structure of the brush are made of aluminum. The staples that hold the bristles into the brush are also stainless steel. In tgrinchy's picture, it is the staples that are rusting.

It is our belief/suspicion that the rusting could be due to high levels of chlorine, shock or salt being present while the Wall Whale is being used. Although it won’t help a brush that’s already rusting, we recommend a quick rinse after using the Wall Whale, especially if it’s being used when the chlorine, shock and salt may be high.
