Rust from swg in AGP

Greetings,

I converted my 30 foot round agp to salt a few years ago and have loved it. However this year I have found some damage. There is a thin fold of metal clamped on top beneath the plastic top rail, that looks like maybe it clamps the liner to the walls. I’m wondering if there is a known place to get that part and if I would be able to replace it without the pool falling apart. Has anyone experienced this and have any pointers?

I don’t remember the brand name but I’m sure it’s one of the more common. I purchased from Family Leisure some years back. There is a plastic tab at the top of the liner to attach to walls, then there is this metal lip that goes over the plastic. This metal lip is the part that is rusted out. It appears to be what supports the plastic rail cap.

They are called stabilizer bars and each type of pool has their own type of bar. The Doughboy pool we have had 2 different sized bars that snap together and overlap. We replaced all of ours last summer when we replaced the pool liner.
They are easy to replace, you have to remove several top rails at a time and pull off the old stabilizer bars and replace with new ones.
When you remove the metal stabilizer bar, check to see if the plastic coping is still in good condition. Sometimes they crack and need to be replaced.
We purchased all of our stabilizer bars and plastic coping at the local pool store but if you have the time, ordering online might be a cheaper option.
