I have a 20 000 liters pool (5.5k gallons) and the manufacturer installed a 1.5HP pump single speed with a SWG. I was told to leave them on 24/7.
Electricity is cheap in here in Quebec, but I have noticed a pump of 40-50kwh per day since the pool is open.
I do not know why I wasn't offered a variable speed pump (the manufacturer offers them as an upgrade but I was never presented the upgrade, and since I didn't know anything about pools I didn't ask for it).
The whole system is running nice, SWG set about 10-15% and the water is very clear (gets filtered a lot I guess because the system is running 24/7?)
Should I switch the pump to a variable one?
