So... my backstory is similar to many...

Bought a pool package that came with a lightweight solar cover. 1st summer, I couldn't decide on a reel that would work with out curious kids so I ended up getting some saddles and mounting them to one side of the pool. The system worked ok and was easy to take off, but a pain to put back on.

Then this summer, I started getting lots of blue circles in the skimmer and filters and one day while taking it off, it litterally shredded in my hands. So, I got a 12mil to replace it. First time taking that cover off, I was on the interweb, finding a reel for it.

Now, I have the reel mounted to the pool in the center with a post set on a stand to hold one side of it because we swing it off to use the pool. My 13yo daughter can do it by herself.

Here's my issue, how does one stop the 2 sides of the cover from sticking to each other? Does someone have a special trick with a noodle or some other float along an edge to get that side to go away from the other? If so, how did you attach it? What did you use? Im more curious about solving this issue so we can put the cover on and off without getting in the pool.

Ropes

Get a grommet kit for a tarp. Put a grommet about 8" in from the edge on the center of each side. Attach 20' or so of paracord to each grommet.

To put the cover on, take the two ropes, and bring them to the end you are going to swing. and hold them in your hand,

Put the reel on the pool with about 2' of cover unreeled, so it is just in the water about a foot or two

Use the ropes to get the ends started in the right direction. Walk to one side with one rope and to the other side with the other rope and then pull them until the ends start going in the right direction

Unreel the cover.

I coil up the ropes and let them lay on the cover.

Do not try to use the rope to pull the cover off the reel. Just use it to get the ends started in the right directions. If you try to pull it with the rope, they will rip out of your cover.
