rocks in salt?

i have bought 1000's of pounds of the blue bag and never had a problem. Just dump all of you salt in one spot in the shallow end. in case there are more rocks. -unlikely.

The only way rocks could have gotten in there is from cross contamination from an endloader.

Ive been at this 12 years and I've had bags that were filthy (dirt not iron thank goodness) and bags with a couple rocks with both versions of salt. Other times either version was clean and rock free. And with a big pool, I go though some salt, so I've got a decent sample size of various brands.

The only difference is the size of the crystals and the bigger ones take a little longer. I buy whichever bag is cheaper (last year pool salt was the cheap one in the spring) and vacuum as needed after without harm.

I do however avoid chlorox salt for the amount of folks who got bit with iron, and now Mortons because they had other issues last year with something not salt like in the bags.
I'm going to stick with the Diamond Crystals. Rocks and dirt included. Home Depot had them for $6 and change if you buy 10 or more. Great price. The dirt is just a light tan and in about 5 out of 16 bags. About 3 bags had lots of pebbles and the rest had about 5-6 pebbles each. I have some stones and sticky dirt balls to vacuum but I got most out before adding the crystals to the pool. It took a lot more time but I kept them out of the pool.
Thank you for listing the salt with iron and other additives. I've had enough iron issues over the years.

All 16 bags had from 5-20 stones in each of them. Most small pea size or slivers but there were also several stones as big as nickel. As someone mentioned, this was probably a bad batch and your end loader theory may have an effect as well.
I did put it in the shallow and made a little pile of rocks and slimy like dirt balls to vacuum later. For the last 8 bags I put them in buckets of water and strained them with a white colander so I could look for any stones. I poured out any dirty water to keep it out of the pool. I needed to kill some ivy anyway. Most water was clear and went back into pool.
Too much trouble for most but I recently had a leak and don't want to pay for finding and repairing another. Next time I won't be putting in 16 bags so it won't be as much work or trouble.

I've been using this by the skid and find it has almost no junk.
