Robots. If we keep the floor clean of debri, do you need them?

Ours is on the fritz and the compressor is probably about six months away from needing replacement. My wife believes they're unnecessary. I have been looking at the electric ones so that we don't have to replace the compressor. Thoughts?

Since spring 2022, my Zodiac was ruined. Choose not to repair nor replace as it is $850 in bottom of my pool. Simply no difference. I still brush the pool at least once a week. Keep up chemicals. I have a small pool 9k gallons with spillover, 3 aerators & fountain. Suspect the pool cleaner was just moving about water in dead areas. I also have no trees around my pool.

Your choices are basically robot or manually vacuum and brush (ignoring a suction or pressure side robot which sounds like you are not plumbed for?). You WILL have things and dust and silt fall to the floor and you WILL need something to brush walls and floor with weekly.

The robot automates the manual job….

I am not sure we are on the same page... What kind of "robot" do you have that uses a compressor???

There are about 5 different types of pool cleaners..

1. An In Floor Cleaning System (IFCS) that has pop up heads that move the debris into a drain..
2. A pressure side cleaner that uses a booster pump to send water to a cleaner that moves around the pool on a small hose.
3. A suction side cleaner that used the suction of the main pool pump to run a pool cleaner using a larger hose
4. You can use a larger hose plugged into your Skimmer or a vacuum port and manually clean your pool
5. A "Robot" which uses low voltage DC to power the cleaner.

Which one do you have???

Hi Jim. Sorry, my improper description. It’s the pump. The previous pool guy said our bearings are going out so we would need a new motor soon.

Can you post a picture of your pad and your "robot"? Likely that you have a pressure or suction side cleaner. Pictures will help resolve language issues...
