Robotic surface skimmers...anyone?

The paddle wheel gears are a huge weakness of the NX2. Its not if, but when they will fail. I have had them replaced already on my NX2.

The Ariel is supposed to have direct drive motors so no gears theoretically. We will see if that is true. My Ariel arrived yesterday.

Let us know how the Ariel is compared to the NX2. Curious to see if the improvements help the Ariel last longer. Unfortunately Solar-Breeze's site shows the Ariel on backorder so I may have to move on from them.

I'm considering an Instapark Betta solar skimmer. I'll probably order one from Amazon once they're back in stock on the 18th. Reviews are mixed (generally good) but my personal experience with Solar-Breeze is also mixed. Key will be customer support for both!
