Rising PH— please help

Lately I’ve had an issue with rising PH. It tests over 8.2, I add the correct amount of Muriatic acid based on my TA (between 90-100) & it lowers it back down. Within a few days it’s up to at least 7.8 & rising. This is the third year of having the pool & i’ve never dealt with ph rising before this year. It has always stayed consistently around 7.5 all summer. What am I missing???

Got more splashing kids in the water? Added any fountains or water features? Those will all boost pH naturally.

Try taking your pH down to 7.2 with muriatic acid. This will lower your TA a bit which will help to slow down the pH rise. Then after lowering the pH, use aeration to stir up bubbles any way you can. This will raise your pH back up a "bit".
You can keep your TA lower than you are and it will help slow the pH roll.

This is how I''ve done it-

Hi - I'm following. I've just had the exact same situation and we are in Maryland! Our 3rd year of having the pool and I had always stopped measuring pH since it was always so stable. Now it is 8.2 and I just added some dry acid last night to bring it down - thanks for posting!

Public Service Announcement :)

Just a general reminder that we don't recommend using dry acid if you have either a plaster pool or a SWG. The dry acid leaves sulfates behind which are damaging to both those things.
