Suspected a leak last summer as my pool started losing water a little faster than it usually does. Did a dye test everywhere, and only 1 return was sucking dye in, kinda slow. Alas it was enough to tip me off a leak was likely there. Closed pool and now it’s time to reopen, but first find the leak. I ‘think’ I may have found it, attached are pics of the return plumbing where it looks like a previous leak was repaired. Yes that is copper coming from my return port in my pool, this pool was originally built in 1965.
My question is, what would be the best way to go about repairing this, assuming the leak is in the plastic plumbing just behind the metal clamp? Cut a few inches off and plumb in another piece using primer/pvc glue (or would this not work since you can’t glue PVC to copper)? Pinpoint the leak and just use pool putty? Something else?
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
