Return jet eyeball stuck

Hi there,

Last year we had this return jet replaced by a pool company, and now it seems that the eyeball is stuck in one position. Pointing sort of down and to the right (into the deep end). Maybe some of their glue got on it? My question to you is whether or not this is an easy fix or whether they would have to completely replace the jet again.

I'm not familiar with that particular fitting, but it looks like there are three tabs that can be turned to loosen and tighten the eyeball. Did they give you any sort of tool? If not, you might be able to loosen with your fingers or a screwdriver, adjust, then retighten.

Hi! Thanks for replying. Yes you can turn the spinny things and take that part off but the eyeball remains and the eyeball itself won’t come out. We are 90% sure it is glued in there, been trying to get visual of it with endoscopic camera. maybe we could put some kind of solvent?

With pump OFF loosen those tabs a little and with the end of the plastic handle of a screwdriver tap the eyeball to break it loose and then make your adjustment.

Don’t want to force anything as that is why we had to replace the jet in the first place. It is really stuck

There really isn't a reason it's glued because the return orifice is the last thing to be screwed in. It's simply just slightly jammed ans should break loose the way I explained.

I luckily have a spare one that I can show. He actually had this on the pool already and glued the pipe to the area I’ve highlighted in yellow. The thing in the very center is the back of the eyeball so some of the glue may have leaked into the cracks there I believe.

There's no glue there. It's simply sandwiched between two plastic parts and they get sticky and tight. It'll move if you make it.

I mean it’s not really sandwiched is it because the spinny part is the only thing holding the eyeball in really. Sorry, just trying to understand, as we have tried to remove it with force already.

The way you holding it in the picture flip the front side of it down and support it on something round with a diameter larger the the eyeball area and from the back knock the eyeball out. Its got to go as there's nothing to hold it back.

This is not the one from my pool, this is just a spare one to demonstrate. I can’t take the one from my pool off.

If the one from the pool is identical then remove the retainer as the one you were holding and yank the eyeball out.

That’s what I’m saying. We’ve tried that and it won’t come out.

Grab a screw driver and pry the eye out, trust me, it will come out.
