My eyeball is loose and what I've done last season and this season is wrap it in plumbers tape around the outer edge and then it doesn't move around anymore.

Can this tension be adjusted via the eyeball key? Or did the pool store maybe give me the wrong size eyeball, or maybe just not matched with the outer ring?
I did get "poolstored" and they literally sent a box with "spare parts" written on the side in sharpie. That's all the hardware they sent me, skimmer box, eyeball, fitting, etc.

I don't know if the retaining ring will bottom-out before actually making the eyeball more secure. I haven't experienced that in my pool. Maybe someone else can confirm or we can ask @AQUA~HOLICS to confirm. Any chance you could post a pic of the return jet so we can see what type you have there?

Thanks. I will try to get a picture later today. But yeah, that was my feeling as to what MIGHT be happening, the ring is bottoming out before applying enough tension to the eyeball itself.
The inner fitting is really tight. I've tried to turn it with my eyeball key and it wouldn't budge. Seeing as everything is water tight and I have a temp but effective solution (plumbers tape around the eyeball) I didn't have a huge desire to mess with it until I learn more about what might be happening.
