Resurfacing Advice (Tucson)

Hello there TFP!

I'm looking to re-surface my pool and was hoping for any advice you guys had for me! My pool currently has plaster, but it's chipping and time to resurface.

I've only received one quote so far, quote came in at: $8.2k (incl. tax) for StoneScapes mini pebble, including install of owner provided tile (i'd buy and provide the water-line tile).
I was planning on buying my own tile from Arizona Tile and providing it to the company that re-surfaces my pool.

One other "option" I had them quote me for was to add an Automatic Water Leveler because I'm tired of manually having to add water myself :)
Side-note: I seem to have to add water every few days. Should I perform a "bucket test" to check for a leak or does this seem "normal" for hot Tucson days (evaporation)?
They quoted me $1,050 to add the auto-water leveler.

Originally I had asked for PebbleSheen, but the quote came in with StoneScapes mini pebble...not sure why? But from what I've read, they are comparable products. I like the look and feel of the PebbleSheen product from PebbleTec which is why I originally requested PebbleSheen. Perhaps this company I got the quote from isn't licensed by PebbleTec? --Not sure yet.

One main question I had was...while they are working on resurfacing the pool...is there anything else I should have them add aside from the leveler?
I *wish* I could add a bubbler, or something to move the water on the surface of the pool, any affordable options for something like this? But, from what I've read, adding a Bubbler to an existing pool could be costly.

For fellow Tucsonians: any local companies you would recommend to me? The first person to come quote me was very nice and it seems like a respectable company, but I'm open to other recommendations.

I'm open to any and all advice! I'm somewhat new to pool ownership, so if I could provide any additional details for you guys to help you give me advice, please let me know and I'll post it!
All advice is so much appreciated!! Thank you for your time!!

Does the quote include a full chip out of the existing plaster or only at/near the waterline?
A full chip out is the best way to go.

Does that include demo (with full chipout)? I just had mine done in SoCal with full chipout, new waterline tile plus brick veneer on 30 ft of 12" raised bond beam, some gunite repairs, white plaster (pebble would have been +$3K), split main drain, large decorative tiles (turtles and dolphins) on 2 sets of steps and stainless handrails on each set of steps - $16500 including startup and water to refill (about $250).

Will they be using drain covers that will accept pebble and in a color that is close to the pebble color?
This is a good question. I assume the point of that is so that the drain covers blend-in to the pebble color? I'll ask if they can add this.

Also forgot to mention...he says they need to bring my pool "up to code" when they resurface. They gave me the option to either delete the main drain or add a diverter for a cost...(I can't recall, but I think it was around $500 or so for the diverter). I decided (for the initial estimate) to delete the main drain because I've actually never been using it since I never had a special valve in the skimmer basket area to divert the sucking to the drain, so the entire time i've had the pool (4 years) i've never used it.
What do you guys think? Should I opt for the diverter to keep the main drain? Or delete and rely on my robot vacuum?

Yes, it includes full demo as far as I can tell. The quote says: "Remove existing pool plaster interior and waterline tile (total chip)"

Oh. Another question I had for y'all...
Are there any concerns about doing a resurface when ambient temps are in the 90 deg F area?
I know there is concern about draining a pool in summer, but I wasn't sure if the same applied to a resurface. Thank you!

Update: The company I originally got a quote for was not a PebbleTec authorized builder/applicator, hence why they didn't quote me for PebbleSheen.
Turns out there is a huge demand (and shortage) for PebbleTec right now according to multiple companies I spoke to here in Tucson.
