Restarting neglected Hot Tub

Hi all, have a few questions that I have not seen before and can't find through search. I am in the process of getting our 2006 Jacuzzi J385 back in operation after sitting filled for 6-8 months. The main pump went out and cover rotted and at the time didn't have the funds to replace so just shut it off. Well, I replaced one of the THREE pumps (replaced another 3-4 years ago) and refilled to treat with ahh-some, that went OK, but didn't get a whole lot of gunk out, in that process I found that the 3rd original pump was leaking at the wet end. I ordered the seal/gaskets/o-rings, etc...should be here in a few days, BUT in the meantime, the tub is still filled with the ahh-some and about 50 PPM Bleach. So the question is will that harm anything? Reasons for leaving is, if I drained and refilled with fresh water, I would have to empty again to change pump seal and we had temperatures hitting 25 degrees for a few days, so didn't want to leave empty. I thought maybe I would hit it with a few more teaspoons of Ahh-some, run for a bit, drain, fix pump, then refill.....thoughts? Second, what is the preferred brand/method to add dichlor to raise CYA upon refill? From there will go with Chlorine bleach. Lastly I have ordered a new cover and will be a few weeks, in the meantime I have it covered with a tarp and bungees. I got to thinking, if I could tarp the cover when not used for extended times, would that prolong the life of the cover?? Or do more harm? The original cover lasted almost 10 years, the replacement, less than 2 years from a company no longer in business. Hoping the new one will last a bit longer. Thanks for any advice.

Hi EJMAMMO: Be sure not to overdose the Ahh-Some. Put in a little less than 1 level teaspoon of the gel each 100 gallons of water in the spa. Don't just add more. The Ahh-Some in there now will be enough. Ahh-Some works in hot or cold water, no difference in performance. However, hot or warm water dissolves the gel Faster.
many people heat up a cup of water in the microwave and add the gel to that, stir it and it dissolves within 5 minutes or so. Just dump it in. Be sure to go to Ahhsome.com and read all the instructions.

Thanks Ahhsomeguy, I believe I talked to you on Monday, and did follow that procedure, got some stuff out, but I was shop-vacuuming as it foamed, so not sure how much gunk was released. My main question is, is there any harm in leaving the Ahh-some in the pool for a few days, until I get parts to fix pump. If no harm then no worries.
