Hello there. I have a basic 6K gallon fiberglass pool that I have been chlorinating happy for the past ten-ish years with a bleach Liquidator. Due to the current pandemic bleach has become a really scare commodity and I just don't see that changing any time soon so I guess that I need to get a SWG. I currently have a single power line on a timer that runs out to my pump and I run my pump for 8 hours thought the day/night split into segments. Ideally I was hoping to find an SWG that I could just run inline with this setup so it would only be receiving power when the pump is receiving power. I would adjust the pump run times and intervals to make sure that the SWG had adequate time to run. Is anyone familiar with a basic smaller SWG that works well and would work within this setup? Also my pump is enclosed in a small pump room and I was curious if the SWG would give need ventilation or would it be fine in an enclosed room?

As you want to run your pump for 8 hours per day, you will need a SWCG rated for at least 3 times your pool volume. Four would be better. As your pool is 6000 gallons, you need a SWCG rated for at least 24000 gallons.
Many folks here have been installing Circupool SWCG's. I believe the size they have is a 30K rated. Several different models. Go to Compare and Review Saltwater Chlorine Generator Prices and Features and check them out.
The SWCG will go in your enclosure without issues. You would wire it to your timer. You do need some straight pipe run to install it. Must be the last think prior to the water going back to your pool.

I just wanted to update that I purchased a Circupool SJ-55. I went with this unit because it just had a price drop to $879.00 and had a longer warranty on the unit and salt cell than the other unit that I was considering, the Universal40. It was pretty easy to install and runs like a champ. The SJ series does not have a salt level display so if you go with this series you would need salt test strips. I am still dialing in what level I need it to run at to fit within the hours that I normally run my pump.

Salt levels reported by most salt water generators are not very accurate. Consider a taylor k1766 to measure salt levels in your pool.
