My pool was opened today. Pool service confirmed our salt generator is shot - it was not functioning properly last year. The pool company suggested a TCELL940 even though our pool is 20,000 gallons. A friend in the business agreed. He also said I can just buy it on Amazon and it's an easy 10 minute swap. Has anyone switched a cell on their own? Can I screw this up?

Always get a SWCG that is rated for twice your pool volume or better. The T 15 (same as the T940) is perfect.

Very easy. You unscrew the old one. Screw on the new one. Run the control cable to your power center. Does not look like you have automation.
