Moved from here.

Definetly go 2 speed or VS and you probably, may, only have to replace the motor not the whole unit. I replaced our Jandy 1.65 HP single speed motor last year and the electricity savings have been significant.
What and from where do you replace the motor? I am in the same boat. Mine is JHPU 2.5 HP but too big for my pool. So I am thinking replacing it with a two speed motor.

If the wet end of your pump is in good shape, you can just replace the motor. With the pump model you can call Inyopools and they will advise you on what motor will mate up with your pump.

As you have a SWCG and a spa, a Variable Speed may be a better choice for you. Be sure to let them know you have automation as you want a VS pump that will work with your automation.
