I’m replacing the Pentair pool light in my older pool. I found the junction box and disconnected the wires. Took out the housing but Im unable to pull out the old wire through the conduit.

I put on a pair of goggles and there is white caulk surrounding the old wire. Any suggestions on how best to remove it?

More likely it is epoxy used to seal the conduit that may have had a leak, a very common solution. It will take a long chisel or screwdriver to break it out.
