Replacing lights when resurfacing?

I've had several quotes to resurface my pool, and it's looking like I'll give my business to a nice local company who has a very competitive price on a nice pebble product.

My question is - this is the ONLY guy telling me that I should replace my lights. Even with the cost of the lights he's still the best price, but does this make sense? His logic is that in many cases lights are compromised during the resurfacing, and it's a better idea to simply plan on replacing the lights rather than try to turn them on two months later and find out they're broken.

I actually asked every other company who gave me a bid about the lights and none of them seemed to think there was any likelihood that the lights would be damaged.

What do y'all think? And can I just put an LED bulb in my existing light fixtures (pool + spa) rather than getting new LED fixtures?

Looking to go with the gray sample:

I just had my plaster resurfaced with Aquabright, and I left the old light in place (though I have an LED bulb in it). If they can shoot a flame thrower around an old light without damaging it, your guy should be able to replaster without damaging it.

How old is the light? If it's more than 20 years old, you might want to put it out to pasture. If it's newer, then I'd just keep it. There's really not much can go wrong with the light (the wiring may be another issue).
