Replacing GloBrite lights with IntelliBrite lights

Our pool builder just "accidentally" installed GloBrites instead of IntelliBrite lights. The pool is about ready to have the interior finish applied, but everything is stopped until this issue is resolved. Is there a reasonable way to remove the GloBrites and their proprietary niche and replace them with IntelliBrites? This is a large pool - 35k gal. Is it possible to ream out the PVC pipe? Or ??? The cost is not the issue. Getting the correct lights is.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

Welcome to TFP.

Rather then try and enlarge the light hole and put in a light niche for the Intellibrite, I would put 1.5" PVC pipe where you install a nicheless Microbrite light. You may need more Microbrite lights so your PB can core drill another one or two light locations.

The Intellibrites don't have great reliability. The Microbrites seem to be a bit better and you have alternatives of other nicheless lights if the Microbrites don't do well.

Thanks for the suggestion, Allen. I had heard that the Microbrites are not as bright as the GloBrites. They are 12W each, c/w GloBrites @ 15 W each. Both are less bright than the 30W IntelliBrites. The MicroBrites seem to also a have narrow beam width. The IntelliBrites have a lens that can "spread the beam." How focused are the MicroBrites? I have not found any specs, but my impression was that the beam is fairly narrow. Of course, specs comparing Lumens would be great, rather than Watts, but good luck finding that.

I appreciate your opinion and advice! I'm just not convinced that the MicroBrites will provide adequate illumination.

That’s why I said to add more lights with the MicroBrites…
