Replace s220t with Hayward c1200 or c1750?

I have an old, ailing sand filter with band aids that have been keeping it going. Looking to replace with cartridge to eliminate back wash as yard changes make it a pain to discharge the water and would like to rearrange plumbin and at unions for better access. Pool is inground, 32x16, 3ft shallow, 7ft deep end.
Thanks

I am sorry for the long delay in your getting a response!
With filters, typically bigger is better. Your swim season is fairly short, but I would still recommend a cartridge filter with at least 300sf of surface area. Hopefully, you could start it clean in the spring and only have to clean it at closing.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
