Replace DE Grids or Time for brand new filter?

Our current Pentair DE filter seems to be at the end of it's life. I am considering replacing the current grids in it but not sure if it makes sense to do that or just get a brand new filter? The reason why I am considering a brand new filter is because the current top of the filter looks to be de laminating. I am able to see the fibers. How can I tell when it is time to switch it out?

How old is it? 10+ years in the sun can do a lot of UV damage to the filter housing. The grids themselves do fail as well. If you replace it I would suggest switching to a cartridge filter.

Less mess than DE. Extended time between cleaning.

Get the biggest one you can afford, and fit in your pad. For that size pool, the Pentair CCP420 or CCP520 are great filters.
