Replace bearings on CaliMar 1.5 HP VS pump

the small bolts holding the back plate and front plate are a bit smaller than 8mm, i got them off with an 8mm socket but it was a bit loose. This is the back, the plate will come off with some force. couldn't get the front off yet, going to fetch a puller but I can see the bearing is the same size.

IMG_20230813_164759_408.jpggot the fan off, nothing magical just tight on there and hard to remove without breaking it. I'll update in a few days when the bearings arrive.

forgot there is a rusty screw here, I used one of them motorcycle screwdrivers with a hammer to break it loose.

This is good info! My in laws just bought one of these pumps- they did spring for the extended warranty as well since they haven’t been around long & are quite cheap compared to other options.

yep, the motor part was out of stock which is what sent me down this rabbit hole and there does not appear to be anything that breaks down further than the whole motor. You can see in the bearings photo that they are 6203LU, I'm going to try to get something similar.

I missed this post earlier...Good job! They seem to be a pretty common part, even on Amazon. I'm sure you'll confirm dimensions.

The fight aganst the magnets wasn't so bad, put the front plate on first, tap it into place, DO NOT rest the shaft on the ground or you'll be fighting yourself. Just lay the motor on its side and tap the plate into place. Do the rear plate second, this one is beveled which will help against the magnets, tricky part is not losing the spring that sits in this plate.
 
so my shaft seals are toast, I'll have to see if I can replace those, the motor spins freely now though, hopefully this will help someone in the future as these start to age.
