Repairing/patching a large rust spot in a steel wall? (pics included)

So I've been told by one company that it would be best to just replace this pool (he said one wrong kick and it'll bust out the side?? We've been using it for 3 years this way but maybe we were just incredibly lucky), but I cannot find ANYONE local that has any availability this entire season. Has anyone repaired something like this and successfully used the pool for another season? I can call around earlier next year to get on the schedule (or even in the Fall, I guess!). The current repair was done by the previous homeowner FYI. :D I've read about using sheet metal patches or special materials but I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks for any advice!
If fixing it isn't a good idea - just how hard would it be to self install a 24' pool in an already prepped spot meant for a 27' pool? Or perhaps a simpler option for an inflatable type or easy set pool to get us through one season?

If it looks like that on the outside it is 100x worse on the inside :( Have you touched it? Does it give at all in that area?

As far is putting up a new pool you already have the hard part done.............leveling the area it goes in! If you have at least one able body person (better 2) that can help you then it can be done. The walls will be the hardest part but there are a LOT of videos to give you ideas on how to do it.

If you decide to go with a brand new pool, be aware that they are SOLD OUT n you probably have a better chance at finding a 4pak of toilet paper. Here are just 2 companies n they are all gone.
