My pool has been under renovation since early April. It took much longer than they made it sound it would, and that's mostly because of the coping. We are using "renovation coping," and the first installer did a terrible job around the spill-over area of our spa. We demanded it be redone and the company agreed it wasn't up to their standards. Trouble is, it took 8 weeks to get more of those renovation copings because the company that makes those only makes them upon order!
Looking back, I'm not even sure why we had to use that style of coping because they stripped our pool down completely. The new coping didn't go over the old coping because they removed it all. "New build" coping was readily available at all times. So that was extremely frustrating that due to one guy's poor work, we had to wait 2 months for more materials. We made it very clear we did not want that guy installing coping again.
Anyway, yesterday was start-up day! We still have our old equipment, and at first the pump wouldn't start. It was slightly "seized" from sitting off for so long, and the pool guy was able to coax it back to life! We know our equipment is old and could go any day, so we're prepared to get a new pump, new valves even, and swap over to salt when the time comes. But if we don't have to spend another few thousand now, we're gonna just be thankful for that.
Now, we're following all of the specific care steps, which includes lots of brushing.
I did find it interesting that part of the process for the next 60 days includes using a product called "Jack's Magic The Magenta Stuff." It's very non-TFP right? But I am going to follow their directions to a T and use this product. The other big important thing right now is to keep the PH quite low. Oh, and as for chlorine, he said for now to just use pucks. Ugh... oh well!
We expanded our pool deck so it's even bigger than before. Now we just need to put back the furniture. So happy to have my pool back!
