Hi,
Looking for advice. I am restoring an indoor concrete pool built around 2000s with ceramic tiles that has been empty for about 10 years. By visual inspection tiles and grout seem to be in good shape, no visual cracks.
One of my builders (who is not pool expert) raised concerns that concrete/tiled pools only last 2-3 full water changes and might leak causing damage to foundation, and suggested to install pool liner on top of tiles.
Another builder (built pools 10 years ago) stated that pools built around that time were solid and should not have issues, only mentioning that epoxy grout is used nowadays that is more waterproof.
Now I am thinking… shall I a) just fill it in and observe the water level.. (what should be reasonable decrease over time?); b) re-grout using epoxy; c) go with pool liner although higher costs as need someone to install it and have heard pool liner lifetime varies 10-20 years)
Otherwise my only concern is 5.1 ft depth of pool thinking of wife & smaller children.. considering adding a layer of concrete + tiles on the floor..
P.S. In case you know thread where it was discussed before, please feel free to share as I could not myself. Pool is covered in orange dust as we were sanding rusted meal beam on top.
Thanks!
