Removed algae and no overnight FC loss: should I still SLAM?

Hi all,

I left the house for three weeks and came back. Despite leaving 4 gallons of 10% bleach and a few trichlor tablets, I came back to a zero FC pool and a few small spots with algae near the steps.

I added 1 gal of 10% bleach, scrubbed well, and the Dolphin has been running repeatedly. I tested a couple of times after a few hours during the early evening getting FC 6.5 and FC 7, always with 0 CC.
Testing again this early morning I got FC 6.5, 0 CC again. Current CYA is around 70-80 (yes, high for a SLAM). Water is clear.

Is this a case where SLAM is required?

Appears you caught it early.
If your Overnight Chlorine Loss Test was 7 to 6.5, with 0 CC and clear water with no visible algae then you are good.
I would keep the FC at the high side of your target range for your CYA. Are you using liquid chlorine only for chlorination?
